Sweet potatoes are best grown in the warmer climates since it is a tropical plant species and early or late frost will damage the plant. Prefers well drained soil such as a sandy loam; it is time to plant when temperature has reached around 70 degrees and the threat of frost has passed. Harvest 120-150 days after planting for the largest yield. They can be grown year round in places like Hawaii, however in most places it is grown as an annual.
