A large conical evergreen tree with square-tipped dark green leaves with a silverly underside, silvery bark when young. The leaves are arranged in a orderly forward facing fashion, 3-6 inch purple oval cones. Native to the pacific northwest and Alaska the tree prefers moist cool climates with acidic soil. Likes shade. Also known as Pacific Silver Fir.
