Aeonium arboreum 'Atropurpureum' is an erect succulent that forms clumps of individual bronze stems with tight rosettes of dark-purple leaves, 8 inches across. In cooler climates this plant will tolerate full-sun however in warmer climates plant in partial-shade to prevent burn. Once established the purple Aeonium is quite drought tolerant, water deeply but infrequently. Plant in sandy well-drained soil to avoid soggy roots. 'Zwartkop' is a similar variety with taller arching stems.
