The Bloodgood Japanese maple is a vigorous upright form which has deep red spring and summer leaves that turn to scarlet in fall. Prefers moist well drained soil conditions with good organic matter. In climates with high summer temperatures Japanese maples will require after noon shade to prevent leaf scorch.
