I just bought 12 cape honesuckle plants, how many years do these vine plants last? Is there another vine plant that lives longer? Looking to cover 6 foot high fence.

Cape honeysuckle (Tecoma capensis) is more of a spreading shrub and is technically not a honeysuckle however if you are using it to cover a fence you will need to tie it to the fence. To keep the plants energy focused on covering the fence you will also need to prune the spreading tendrils as they grow and lay on the ground. Once trained the cape honeysuckle will cover the fence nicely and could reach up to 10 feet. It will however take regular pruning to kept it from spreading beyond. Cape Honeysuckle will turn into a large draping shrub that could spread up to 25 feet if left unpruned, and the tendrils will root as they spread along the ground.
As for the longevity of the plant you need not worry so long as you live in zone 9-11, cape honeysuckle will not survive in cold climates.
