Planting Seeds

victoria1957@ asks:

Question

When planting veggie seeds if you miss the start of the growing season in your region can you still plant without the risk of the plant bolting?

Answer

It really depends of the crop and your climate, many crops can be held back by simply removing the bolt (Flower stalk) however some cool season vegetable crops in warmer climates may simply stop growing regardless of bolting. I would recommend planting veggies in your garden that thrive in the summer heat and those which have more than one planting date.
