Lighting for plants

Jim asks:

Question

I live in a single wide mobile home. I was wondering if I could put plants (African violets and poinsettia) in between 2 north windows with 2 south windows 13' on the opposite side, if the plants would grow good? I appreciate the help!

Answer

African Violets and Poinsettia are both very cold sensitive plants the north side of your home maybe too cold. African Violets do best in night time temperatures which stay between 65 and 75 degrees, poinsettia will begin to defoliate if temperates drop quickly or get to low. Depending on your particular climate there are shade loving plants that would do much better in such a location.

In the US African Violets do best in doors.

Hope this helps.
