Elephant Ear

Dan asks:

Question

Can you cut the root in half of an Elephant Ear and plant the following year to have more?

Answer

You can separate the individual tubers from one another as they develop however cutting the tubers themselves in half will not produce new plants. Elephant Ears (Colocasia) generally spread by rhizomes naturally, as the rhizomes develop they can be separated and replanted.
