Planting cool-season veggies and herbs in your garden will allow you to harvest fresh homegrown produce year round in many climates. If you happen to live in one of the nation's colder climates cool-season vegetables like broccoli, cabbage and chives can be harvested late fall and early spring if you plan accordingly.
